A Bronx man is demanding the city fix a busted up sidewalk so his handicapped wife and other commuters can easily access buses.

Felix Gibson called into News 12 The Bronx's "Ask the Borough President" show Tuesday to complain about a bus stop that is marked handicapped accessible. However, Gibson said his wife, Sofia, is forced to wait on the street at Paul Avenue and Mosholu Parkway for the bus because the sidewalk is in poor condition.

Gibson argues even he has a hard time navigating a large hump in the sidewalk, and he doesn't walk with a cane like his wife. "It should be a sidewalk that is level with the curb. And the curb should be cut so it's handicapped accessible." He says pavement is also missing, causing a muddy mess when it rains.

Sofia Gibson says when she gets off the bus she has to get out on the street, leaving her in the path of traffic. She says she often has to run to safety, despite using a cane.

The Department of Transportation, which is in charge of sidewalk maintenance, has not returned calls for comment.
