An iconic but now-shuttered Brooklyn Heights hotel will reopen this fall, officials say.
Hotel Bossert on Montague Street -- formerly referred to as the Waldorf Astoria of Brooklyn -- is set to reopen in October.
It was built in 1909 and has been a landmark in the neighborhood for more than a century.
It served as an apartment-style hotel until the Jehovah's Witnesses bought it in 1983.
The religious group then sold the Italian renaissance-style building to Clipper Equity and the Chetrit Group for $81 million in 2012.
The building is currently undergoing renovations and will reopen as a boutique hotel with about 300 rooms.
Additional plans include a two-level rooftop restaurant with a view of Manhattan.
Hotel Bossert was also the site of the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers' World Series victory celebration. That year, they defeated another local team -- the New York Yankees.
