Dozens of elementary school students in Weeksville are learning that improving their health can be easy and fun, but they may also get a little bit dirty.
P.S. 243 and Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School teamed up with the American Heart Association and "Grow to Learn" for a harvest day celebration Tuesday.
The kids started harvesting veggies in their own garden back in May, and now they're taking those fresh-picked foods and cooking up some smart meals.
It's all part of a hands-on education initiative aimed at teaching young students about better eating habits and maintaining healthy lifestyles.
This is the first year the schools have participated, but everyone is hoping to keep the garden going for many years to come.
