Brooklyn paid tribute to the men and women who sacrificed for our nation during the annual Kings County Memorial Day Parade in Bay Ridge Monday.
Emily Toro served as grand marshal of the parade, carrying her son Isaac's dog tags and picture with her. The 26-year-old was killed in Iraq in 2007.
Toro says Memorial Day is not about the barbecues and beaches, but about the freedom Americans enjoy because of people like her son.
The parade has been a borough tradition for the past 146 years.
