Kingsborough Community College hosted a Luncheon for Heroes to honor three alumni who took part in the Miracle on the Hudson rescue in January.
School officials paid tribute to officers Brian Brody and John Kodetsky, from the NYPD harbor unit, and Detective Robert Rodriguez, from the NYPD scuba team, who helped bring passengers and crew members of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 to safety after it landed in the Hudson River.
Rodriquez says he was one of the first to arrive on the scene of the crash Jan. 15, expecting to see casualties inside the half-sunken plane. It was not until hours later, he says, that he discovered that all 155 people aboard the jet survived.
