Shareholders and renters at Lafayette Estates in Soundview are protesting two new residential buildings that they say management will build on the property.
Residents told News 12 that management built a makeshift parking lot on top of their beloved green space to make room for construction on top of the original lot.
People said the new residential buildings will add over 1,000 units to the property and that it takes away from the original lure of a quiet, tight-knit community so many people bought into.
Several shareholders are concerned with the new buildings obstructing their views, as many of them purchased their apartments with the expectation of a great view.
Residents are also concerned with how the building construction will impact their lives, including dust and noise mitigation.
They're calling on management for transparency and a more detailed plan when it comes to the future of their neighborhood.
News 12 reached out to management and is waiting to hear back.
