Two community leaders took off from the business world Thursday to be "Principal For A Day" in Throgs Neck.
Throgs Neck Merchants Association President John Cerini and Councilman James Vacca took over at P.S. 304. The men fielded questioned from fourth- and fifth-graders.
Students asked the leaders what inspires them and touched on serious issues, such as why there are no traffic lights outside of their school.
Cerini said he wants to establish a more permanent relationship with the school by holding fundraisers.
The nonprofit group Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning holds the Principal For A Day event each year. PENCIL's goal is to improve student achievement through business involvement.
