A company is seeking to give some used clothing a second life.
LG Electronics USA held a Second Life campaign event at Smorgasburg, where people could donate clothes to be redistributed around the city.
The campaign began this year in Los Angeles to teach consumers about the millions of pounds of clothing that end up in U.S. landfills.
Representatives from the company take the old clothes, wash and sanitize them then redistribute the donations to local Brooklyn beneficiaries.
LG's goal is to collect at least 5,000 pounds of clothing to recycle. After Brooklyn, the campaign will head to Charlotte, North Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee.
