A grieving mother is demanding answers from investigators weeks after her 27-year-old son was killed in a Pennsylvania ATV accident, claiming police have repeatedly shifted their story about the fatal collision.

Danielle Elardo says her son Kyle was working in Pennsylvania and staying with a friend when he decided to ride his ATV around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. Pennsylvania State Police determined Kyle fell from the vehicle onto a main road, where he was struck by a car and killed. He would have turned 28 next week.

However, Elardo says the timeline and details provided by authorities have changed drastically since the night of the tragedy.

According to Elardo, the initial response from law enforcement and the local coroner painted a multi-vehicle scenario.

"The first police officer told us he was hit twice, one was that white car, and that he was hit by a tractor-trailer," Elardo said. "The coroner told me the same exact story."

One week later, Elardo says a detective backtracked on that narrative, telling her that they now believe the tractor-trailer actually swerved around Kyle and ruled out the original car of interest entirely. When she pressed investigators about why the public has not been updated on the shifting details, Elardo said she received no explanation.

As the family waits for clarity, Kyle's cousin, Brianna Elardo, has turned to social media in a desperate bid for witnesses.

"There's no way that somebody took his life and is going to live their life," Brianna Elardo said. "We won't be silenced about that because we're going to find who did this."

News 12 has made several attempts to contact Pennsylvania State Police and the lead investigator on the case since September but has not yet received a response.
