Our Wednesday should be a fairly dry day with only a slight chance of a shower. We can expect mainly cloudy skies, but temperatures returning to seasonable levels in the mid 40s. There could be some patchy fog but conditions will improve quickly as we head through the morning. If we see any sun, a few spots may hit 50 degrees.
On Thursday, rain returns and will continue into early Friday morning. While a brief icy mix is possible north and inland from the city, New York City is expected to see just rain. Periods of steady rain are likely Thursday afternoon and especially Thursday night, when it could fall at a moderate pace at times. By Friday morning, the rain will move out, but skies will likely remain mostly cloudy, with afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 40s. There could be an inch or more of rain which could lead to some flooding when combined with the snow melt.
Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures will rise noticeably. Saturday will turn milder, with highs climbing into the 50s in the city. A few showers are possible Saturday night as a weak front moves through, but it won’t be a washout. Sunday looks mainly dry and mild, with highs again in the 50s.
Beyond the weekend and into early next week, springlike warmth builds in. Temperatures could reach the upper 50s to even the 60s in parts of the city. Overall, after the rain chances late this week, we’re heading into a stretch of milder, mostly dry weather for NYC.
