Power has been restored at the Spring Creek Towers following a major blackout that kept tenants in the dark and cold for several hours.
Emergency crews were called to the East New York housing complex, formerly known as Starrett City, at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. They say several elevators were stuck with people trapped inside.
Fire crews confirm having to rescue tenants, but did not give an exact number. No injuries were reported.
Residents complain that outages have happened before, including back in October when electricity went out in all 46 buildings for about two hours.
It's unclear how many of the buildings were affected this time or what caused the blackout. Spring Creek Towers provides its own power grid.
