New Yorkers celebrated the beauty of the dreadlock hairstyle at the first Loc Fest in Fort Greene.

Hundreds made their way to Commodore Barry Park to celebrate the roots of "loc'd" hair.

Loc Fest NYC aimed to raise awareness, educate, and unify the growing loc hair community.

It featured live performances, vendors, a fashion show and a styling competition.

Organizers say they want people to embrace their hair in its natural state. They hope to continue the event.
