More than a dozen protesters rallied outside the Supreme Court in Downtown Brooklyn today to show their support to keep Long Island College Hospital a full-service facility.
Most of LICH shut down recently, leaving only the emergency department in operation. And just last week, SUNY Downstate announced that it cut off talks with its second choice bidder, the Peebles Corp., which was reportedly planning on purchasing the cash-strapped hospital for $260 million.
The protesters claim judges have been scoring potential developers incorrectly, leaving SUNY to dismiss developers that would help keep the facility a full-service hospital.
A justice is expected to rule today on whether or not to disqualify certain judges for not using the right criteria.
