A 48-year-old man was stabbed and killed outside a Brownsville apartment building Wednesday evening, and police say they are still trying to track down the other person involved in the fight.
Police have identified the victim as 48-year-old Kevin Coleman.
People who knew Coleman tell News 12 he was a kind person and a father.
The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. outside the Langston Hughes Houses on Sutter Avenue. According to a source with the NYPD, several 911 callers reported two men fighting and said at least one of them had a knife.
When officers arrived, they found 48-year-old Kevin Coleman lying on the ground in front of the building with multiple stab wounds.
Sources say Coleman was unconscious and still holding a knife in his hand when police reached him.
Coleman was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he died a short time later.
A growing memorial with posters, photos and candles is at the location where Coleman was stabbed.
Tameel Marshall, who is a friend, stopped by to write messages.
"Loveable person, loved in the community, life of the party and you know he was a great Dad," said Marshall.
