A Brooklyn man is facing murder charges in connection to a deadly stabbing in Bushwick.
"Walking out of your house into a crime scene is even for a native New Yorker not something that you ever want to see," said Shane Duryea.
Police say a man was stabbed to death after getting into an argument with his attacker across the street from Fermi Playground.
"The whole block was shut down," said Duryea. "I'm 45. I've never seen anything like that."
Police arrested 43-year-old Nelson Reyes and charged him with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
"It's not typical of what I've seen living here in the past two years," said Jessica Perry. "I really like the community here. We know our bodega people. We know our neighborhood bar. This playground is always really nice. So I would say it was shocking."
Councilmember Jennifer Gutierrez said the stabbing is a painful reminder of why more investments in long-term public safety solutions are needed.
Police are still looking into what caused the argument. They are waiting to confirm the victim's name with his family before releasing it to the public.
