The city is being sued for $25 million by a man claiming he was assaulted by two female NYPD officers.
Marlon Smith, 35, and another man were allegedly sprayed with mace and beaten with batons by the women on Aug. 15. Smith received 25 staples for his wounds and is suing the department for mental and physical injuries.
"I just wanna know why they would treat a human being like this," says Smith. "They're supposed to have families ... they're supposed to be peace officers."
Smith says his clearest memory of the event is him laying on the ground feeling blood trickling down his head. The man also says he didn't know if he would survive.
The officers were arrested for the incident and have been charged with several counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. News 12 The Bronx reached out to the department for a statement, but has not heard back.
