A convicted felon is now facing federal charges after prosecutors say he opened fire with a machine gun on a Bronx street.
Authorities say 53-year-old David Maldonado of Manhattan fired a dozen rounds on Nov. 14 near East 170th Street and 3rd Avenue, striking a nearby vehicle.
Maldonado was apprehended by officers who were nearby. Police say the weapon was an illegal ghost gun modified to fire automatically.
Maldonado is charged with possession of ammunition as a convicted felon and possession of a machine gun.
