New surveillance video is shedding light on a deadly crash that killed a 25-year-old man riding a gas-powered scooter in Williamsburg early Tuesday morning.
It happened just before 4:45 a.m. at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Bedford Avenue.
In the video, the man can be seen making a left turn onto Bedford Avenue when he collides with a gray Subaru traveling through the intersection. The impact throws him off the scooter and into the roadway. Seconds later, he's hit by a second vehicle—a white Nissan sedan.
Police say both drivers involved stayed at the scene and were not injured.
Emergency crews rushed the scooter rider to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, but he did not survive. His name has not been released yet, pending family notification.
According to the NYPD, the crash is under investigation by the department’s Collision Investigation Squad. No arrests have been made.
The incident left behind a scene of debris—his scooter was seen still lying on the sidewalk hours later.
