Officers have arrested a man who was shot by police in Ditmas Park last Friday.
According to authorities, 25-year-old Arthur Whaley was struck by one bullet after he threatened an officer with a knife at East 19th Street and Glenwood Road. He then managed to get away and remained at large for nearly a week.
As News 12 previously reported, Whaley was among two men caught stealing tires off a Honda Fit. When police arrived, they attempted to drive away, but crashed into a parked car.
Investigators say that's when Whaley came out of the vehicle with a knife, and was shot after ignoring orders to put the weapon down. The other man in the vehicle, 26-year-old Corey Prescod, was arrested soon after the incident.
Whaley is facing a host of charges, including two counts of grand larceny and reckless endangerment.
Cops say there were two other men present who remain at large.
