Police are looking for a man who they say robbed a deli in University Heights and attacked an employee.

The violent theft happened just after 1 a.m. on Feb. 3 inside 37 Deli Grocery, located at 37 West 183rd St.

Authorities say a 51-year-old male employee attempted to stop the man from leaving the deli with merchandise that wasn't paid for, when the man punched the employee in the face and threatened him with a knife.

The employee denied medical attention at the scene, according to police.

The robber ran from the deli and was last seen wearing a tan jacket, black pants and black shoes.
