Business is booming in Brooklyn as more and more Manhattan-based companies move their offices into the borough.

According to Glenn Markman, of real estate giant Cushman and Wakefield, over the last six months, many firms have found newer, more affordable space in Brooklyn at a fraction of the price of their Manhattan buildings.

One building popular among Manhattan companies is Metrotech, a brand new facility that offers companies office space at nearly a third of the price for a comparable building in Manhattan.

"Brooklyn was able to be a real cost-effective solution for us," Eric Friedman, of the law firm Weil Gotshal and Manges, says.

Markman says the trend will not end any time soon and local retail stores and restaurants will likely benefit from an increase in business as more companies move into the area.
