A number of residents in Sunset Park took part in a walk Saturday, citing outrage over incidents involving alleged police brutality.
The walk, which spanned Fifth Avenue to the 72nd Precinct, was spurred by two noted incidents involving police in the community. The first was when a handcuffed man was allegedly kicked in the back, and the other involved a pregnant woman who was allegedly thrown to the ground.
The marchers were joined by elected officials and nonprofit groups who fight for equal justice. They are calling for the firing and prosecution of the officers involved.
The protesters are also calling for NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton to appear in a Sunset Park Town Hall meeting Wednesday, where the topic of discussion will be police brutality.
