Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke about the importance of early pre-K enrollment outside the Early Childhood Education Center in Sunset Park Tuesday.
De Blasio says he wants parents to know that public school pre-K is not their only option. The mayor says there are thousands of free, full-day pre-K class slots available at community-based early childhood centers. He added that the application process is easy.
To make sure parents know how to apply, the city is launching a public awareness campaign with the slogan "Opportunity Starts Now."
According to the city, all children born in 2010 who live in the New York City are eligible for free pre-K in September 2014.
