Mayor de Blasio kicks off '3-K for All' initiative in BX, BK
Thursday marked the first day of school who those who attend New York City Public Schools, and Mayor Bill de Blasio used the day to kick off a new program.
Mayor de Blasio, along with others, launched the "3-K for All" initiative in School District 7 in the South Bronx and School District 23 in Brooklyn.
The districts welcomed 1,400 3-year-olds to the city school system, saying it is going to help out many New York families.
The new program is part of the mayor’s Equity and Excellence for All agenda.
Its purpose is to support a higher graduation rate and get students college ready.
