Ground beef containing a "pink slime" filler will no longer be served in city schools come this September, according to the Department of Education.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said last week that schools enrolled in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) could choose the ammonia-treated meat or less lean ground beef. Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer then urged all schools to take the slime off the menu.

Bronx parents are happy with the change and say it should never have been an option.
