A Midwood man was bitten by a snake that he tried flushing down the toilet after he found it coiled up in his bathtub.
Steven Nahama discovered an 18-inch corn snake in his bathtub on Wednesday morning.
"I was lucky that my shower door was open,” said Nahama. “I would turn on the water, jump in the shower, and then might've been rattled."
Nahama tells News 12 that he grabbed the snake and tried to flush it down the toilet, which failed. He was then bitten and police were needed to remove the reptile from his apartment.
EMS personnel told Nahama that the snake was not venomous. Now, he’s just looking for answers as to how it got there in the first place.
"The drain in the bathtub was too tiny for it to get into the tub itself,” said Nahama. “My theory is someone had it as a pet and it got out of its container."
