Unseasonably warm air will stick around in New York City through most of Wednesday. Temperatures will feel more like spring than early March. However, neighborhoods near the ocean—such as parts of South Brooklyn —may cool down later today as winds shift off the colder Atlantic waters. This onshore breeze could also bring areas of low clouds and fog along the coast tonight and possibly again on Wednesday evening.

Some coastal areas may wake up to patchy fog and low clouds overnight into Wednesday morning. Wednesday will still be warmer than normal for the city, but it may not feel quite as warm as Tuesday. Winds turning more from the south and southeast will pull cooler air in from the ocean, and increasing cloud cover later in the day will also keep temperatures from climbing as much.

A stronger weather system will approach the region late Wednesday. Most of the day should stay dry across New York City, but clouds will thicken as the system gets closer. By Wednesday evening and overnight, the chance of rain will increase, with gusty winds developing ahead of an approaching cold front.

The cold front will move through the city early Thursday. Rain may briefly mix with or change to a few wet snow showers before ending, but temperatures near the ground will likely be too warm for snow to stick. After the front passes, much colder air and blustery winds will move in. Temperatures will start the day in the 60s, but will drop through the 40s and into the 30s during the day, with some places falling below freezing by Thursday night. Conditions will settle back to more typical early-March weather by Friday and Saturday.
