A mock CVS pharmacy has opened at the Brooklyn Transition Center, or P.S. 373K in Bedford-Stuyvesant, to help students with career skills.
As a mock store, its "customers" use play money and the products are returned to the shelves after purchase. The school's principal was the first customer.
A curriculum is set up to help students learn customer service, financial and leadership skills.
All the students at the Ellery Street school have some sort of intellectual disability, and students say the program helps with socializing as well.
If students succeed in the program, they can get an internship that could lead to employment at CVS.
