Hundreds of teachers from across the city attended a brand-new social emotional learning training Thursday.

More than 600 teachers went through the training at LIU Brooklyn that aims to teach unique skills when it comes to developing character.

First lady Chirlane McCray addressed the elementary school administrators and teachers who spent the day in training.

In June, the city announced the expansion of social emotional learning. The city has partnered with Sanford Harmony National University, and Thursday educators received the training that'll allow them to teach their students about empathy, tolerance and problem solving.

There will be another round of training next month.

The goal is to reach 260 schools a year for the next three years.
