A Winter Storm warning has been issued ahead of this weekend's storm.
After a dry and cold end to Christmas. Friday is expected to start off very cold and breezy ahead of a storm system bringing snow to the region.
Temperatures are expected to stay within the 20s, with lighter winds and steady snow that will have heavy periods likely from Friday evening and late Friday night.
There is a chance that some ice will mix in with the snow, leading to lower overall snow totals. However, plan for grabbing the shovels as we could see a widespread 4 to 8 inches of snowfall by the end of this event, which is Saturday morning.
Impacts will be the biggest issue with this storm. Snow-covered roads, some icy spots possible, and plowable snow.
If you have to travel, aim for early Friday or late Saturday afternoon when conditions improve, and the roads have been worked more thoroughly.
Closing out the weekend, there is another storm system that will bring rain to the region Sunday night through Monday. Washing away much of the snow we just received.
