8h agoA motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning in a crash near Stony Brook University Hospital on Nicolls Road.
Investigators say the 26-year-old motorcyclist was riding southbound before striking the guardrail just before 11:30 a.m.
Airton Santos-Alexandre, of Medford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stony Brook University police assisted Suffolk police in the on-scene investigation.
It's unclear what caused the crash. Police have not yet released the identity of the driver.
Nicolls Road was closed for hours but has since reopened.
