Mott Haven voters were given a rare opportunity to weigh in on exactly how taxpayer money should be spent in their district.
Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito (D-District 8) will be allocated $1 million and is letting her constituents choose where those funds will go. Residents hit the polls Thursday to vote on five possibilities, including surveillance camera installations and playground improvements.
Voters said it's a good feeling to be listened to and have their opinions count.
