Straphangers will be seeing less trash cans at some subway stations in The Bronx.
The MTA says its expanding a pilot program to remove garbage cans from stops throughout the city. The goal is to reduce the number of exposed trash bags that have to be removed from the system and to help control the rodent population.
Officials say the affected Bronx stations are the 239th Street stop on the 1 line and East 143rd Street on the 6 line.
