New security cameras are coming to Bronx and city subway platforms and now the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reportedly planning to keep the video footage forever.
According to a New York Post report, the firm hired to install the cameras says there will be so much footage coming in, it will be hard to monitor all of it. The firm, Broadware Technologies, says while the MTA wants to keep all of the video, it may eventually use software that could detect suspicious activity.
Meanwhile, the firm is currently trying to figure out how to install the new system into the 100-year-old subway. The firm says the cameras will be out in the open as a crime deterrent so it needs to make sure they are tamper-proof.
