A new report from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority claims it could be overpaying Con Edison for electricity usage.
The Office of the Inspector General found that many of the agency's electrical utility accounts have been getting bills on a long-term or even permanent basis.
Transit officials say they have found more than $7 million in overpayments made to Con Edison, which accounted in part for payments made when the subways closed overnight at the start of the pandemic.
The OIG says the MTA needs to examine many more accounts for potential overpayments.
