A Lindenhurst coffee shop is brewing up more than just your daily caffeine fix, it’s building a community, one cup at a time.

Named after the owner’s son, Muni’s Coffee Joint has been a staple in the neighborhood for the past seven years, serving everything from specialty coffees and teas to smoothies and more. But for owner Alice Bopp, the shop represents something deeper than what’s on the menu.

“I love coffee, and I wanted to reinvent myself after having Muni in my 40s,” Bopp said. “I wanted something new, and so we are here.”

Originally from Brazil, where coffee is a big part into everyday life, Bopp says opening the shop felt like a natural step. Over time, it’s also helped her find a sense of home on Long Island. “The customers are the best,” she said. “Becoming friends and creating that community sense, I really feel the love.” That feeling is mutual. Regulars say it’s the welcoming atmosphere and personal connections that keep them coming back, with some menu items even named after loyal customers.

“It goes back to that sense of community,” said customer Ally Cropsey of Lindenhurst. “Talking to Alice and everyone who works here, it just makes you happy every time you come in.” For Bopp, that connection is what makes it all worth it. “It feels really good to be part of something so special.”
