Artists have installed a new mural in a Prospect Expressway underpass as part of a broader initiative to beautify Gowanus.
The painting, dubbed "Intersections," is a 50-foot, colorful abstract inspired by the borough's diversity, according to Chicago-based artist Miguel Del Real.
The Department of Transportation and the local organization Arts Gowanus commissioned the mural to help bring color to the industrial neighborhood.
Officials say the mural will stand for up to a year.
