Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community used Independence Day to spread a message of loyalty and unity.
Leaders at the Baitul Tahir Mosque say they want to change misconceptions surrounding Islam and show people that they are peaceful.
A ceremony featured a flag raising, prayers and political leaders talking about the importance of the holiday.
Mosque members say they plan to continue holding events throughout the year that will bring the community together.
