Former Rep. Michael Grimm is squaring off with fellow Republican
Rep. Dan Donovan for the seat he used to hold in New York's 11th Congressional District, which includes Staten Island and southern Brooklyn.
Grimm, a former Marine and FBI agent, served seven months in prison for tax evasion. He also threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony on video during an interview about the federal investigation into his tax problems.
He says he wants to return to politics to push for more border security and to fight the heroin epidemic.
And he wants to improve infrastructure to reduce traffic and shorten commute times.
In the days leading up to the federal election primaries, News 12 Brooklyn is featuring one of the candidates and details about their campaign platform.
