A new study finds more people are worried about aggressive driving.
AAA surveyed more than 3,000 drivers, many of whom have seen aggressive driving themselves. The study found nearly 75% of drivers saw at least one incident over the past year.
Of those surveyed, 65% said they’ve also seen street takeovers at least once in the Northeast in the past year. That includes drag racing and drivers weaving through traffic. The study says those dangers are reported more in urban areas.
Half of the drivers surveyed say they’re concerned about the street takeover trend.
Throughout the Hudson Valley, local police departments are cracking down on these dangerous road takeovers. That includes the town of Deerpark in Orange County, where burnouts and reckless driving have become a major problem on Route 97.
It comes after another AAA study from September 2025 found 92% of drivers reported using aggressive behavior that put others at risk, including speeding.
