? Construction is underway in East New York for a brass-fixture factory that will bring jobs and boost the local economy.
Brass Masters owner Gittu Modi says he could have easily built his $2.7 million factory in his native India, but he wants to give back to Brooklyn. Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY) and many residents see East New York as the city?s ?last frontier? for much-needed development. The mayor believes tax incentives and room for growth will make the area attractive to businesses.
Brass Masters will employ 45 workers and is scheduled to open this fall.
