A new study commissioned by the NYPD has found that the more times a person is stopped by an officer, the worse they view the police.
The Wall Street Journal reports that more than 17,000 people were surveyed. The survey revealed that people who were stopped only once by police were 25 percent less likely to say they were doing a good job.
For people who were stopped more than once, job approval dropped by 58 percent.
The Wall Street Journal says the study also found differences between white residents and other races on whether police conduct is appropriate during stops.
The survey was paid for by the nonprofit New York City Police Foundation and was conducted by Haystaq DNA.
