Transportation Alternatives and Families for Safe Streets released new Vision Zero Program data to mark the initiative's 10th anniversary.
According to analysts, traffic fatalities were 16% lower in the last 10 years. Pedestrian fatalities also fell 29% from 2014 to 2023.
However, the data only applies to wealthier neighborhoods.
The report says lower-income communities and communities of color have experienced an increase in traffic violence because the program has not been fully or effectively implemented in those areas.
