State officials announced a new program aimed to enhance the safety of home health care workers in Connecticut.

The In-Home Safety Grant Program will give money to home health aide agencies to improve safety protocols.

That includes emergency alert buttons, buddy escort systems, tracking devices and safety training, risk-scoring tools, safety consultants, and the establishment of dedicated phone lines for staff in the field to access immediate support.

Home health aide agencies interested in applying for grants can submit an application to the Connecticut Department of Social Services.

An online application form will be made available on Wednesday on this link.
