Students at the New York Institute for Special Education worked to improve their social, emotional and fine motor skills through an annual indoor Winter Wonderland event hosted by the school.
Approximately 125 students within the institute’s readiness program enjoyed the snowy themed events such as ice fishing, obstacle courses, and snowman arts and crafts.
These activities aim to improve coordination, agility and expressing emotions in a healthy manner.
Through language-based events, the school aims to challenge students who are learning English as a second language.
There is also a quiet winter village if students need a break from the excitement around them.
The school says the annual event is a fun way to say goodbye to winter while still meeting educational goals.
