A nonprofit is teaching coding to women in Brooklyn with a new workshop.
MotherCoders was founded by Tina Lee several years ago in San Francisco. The group offers a nine-week program for mothers to learn coding.
Lee says only about 25 percent of tech jobs are held by women, and a small fraction of those are leadership positions. She says she hopes to alter the course of these women's lives.
The group, which offers a nine-week program for mothers to learn coding, is now offering classes in Brooklyn through a partnership with Google, Women.NYC and the Brooklyn Public Library.
The nonprofit also offers free, on-site child care.
