NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams enters mayoral race

News 12 sources have confirmed that New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams has entered the mayoral race.
The New York City Campaign Finance Board website has Adrienne Adams listed under a list of candidates above Mayor Eric Adams. Registering with the board is a preliminary step toward a run for mayor.
Adrienne Adams has eluded to a run for a number of weeks and is expected to officially announce at a rally this Saturday, according to sources close to the campaign.
If elected, Adrienne Adams would be the first female NYC mayor.
The race to city hall is expected to the a tight one. Some candidates include current Mayor Eric Adams and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo who threw his hat in the ring last week.
Cuomo's decision to run had been first reported by News 12's Tara Rosenblum.
The primary elections are in June, and the general election is in November.
