The New York City Department of Correction hosted its first-ever women's conference to honor the agency's history of creating opportunities for women.
The conference included speeches from First Deputy Commissioner Lynelle Maginley and First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright.
"It's important that women empower other women, and they know that there's an avenue that they can uplift each other. And we can learn about each other. Today we, we learned a lot about ourselves," says Maginley. "We were able to share with each other. And I think that this is sort of a good thing going forward. It's our inaugural conference, and we intend to have it again next year.
The conference also included seminars for those in attendance about breaking the glass ceiling.
