NYC DOT installs mid-block crossings on Atlantic Avenue

The city’s Department of Transportation installed three mid-block crossings on Atlantic Avenue.
They can be found between Nevins Street and Bond Street, Bond Street and Hoyt Street and Hoyt Street and Smith Street.
Mid-block crossings are safety initiatives that aim to slow down speeding cars and trucks.
According to Vision Zero, Atlantic Avenue has a history of being unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists. There have been hundreds of crashes in the last five years with two fatalities in 2023.
News 12’s Shniece Archer spoke to Council Member Lincoln Restler who advocated for safety improvements to Atlantic Avenue.
