NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island is all set to install the last beam on its new 11-story tower as part of a more than $900 million renovation.
The hospital was hit hard during Superstorm Sandy. The new tower is being funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and will include a new elevated emergency department and surgical suite with eight operating rooms.
Hospital employees and construction workers will have an opportunity to make their mark on the last steel beam, which is expected to go up soon.
Construction is expected to be completed in the next two years.
